My name is Niki and I'm 25 years old. I was raised in the small town of Manchester, GA. I have an amazing family and wonderful friends. I am a sinner saved by God's amazing grace and I love the Lord with all of my heart. I strive daily to be a better person and to do God's will.
I graduated from Columbus State University in May 2009 with my BSN degree. I work as a RN at the Medical Center in Columbus, GA on a Telemetry/Renal floor. I married my husband and best friend on May 30, 2009. On August 3, 2009 I was told that I was pregnant and also diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Our beautiful daughter, Allie Amerah, was born on March 10, 2010. I began chemotherapy 2 weeks later. I responded well to the chemo and on August 31, 2010 I was considered to be in complete remission.

All of my routine follow up visits and scans were normal and life was good and back to normal. However, on May 11, 2011, my oncologist told me that my PET scan was positive. He suggested a biopsy of the area. After biopsy, the surgeon came to my bedside and said "it's associated with your Hodgkin's". Point blank I had cancer again. Now i'm in the fight for my life yet again. Chemotherapy is underway and an Autogolous Bone Marrow Transplant is in my near future. The support from my husband, family and friends is beyond what I could ever of imagined. I hope this blog will give you all an insight to what is going on with me and help you to understand everything. I'll try to keep it updated as much as possible through the whole process. Sometimes its easier for me to express myself by writing than talking about it.
My oncologist Dr. Andres Forero-Torres has high hopes for remission and cure. I pray everyday for this but I know it's God's will and he has a plan for us all. I trust in him and he gives me the strength I need to find an inner peace and to fight. I will fight, I have too much to live for....
